Justice Media Lab (JML) Inc. is a legal media services and technology company, dedicated to pursuing the state of the art in legal demonstrative communication.  The Mission of JML is straightforward –

Develop powerful and persuasive media communications solutions to assist our attorney “client/partners” in securing justice for their clients.

Several members of the JML team have worked together on numerous cases over the past 20+ years since the original founding of “Digital Courtroom Inc.” in 1993. Digital Courtroom was an innovator in developing digital visual databases and first introducing interactive exhibits in Texas courts in a number of significant cases.

Principals and Shareholders

Rob Hurlburt, Founder/CEO

JML CEO Rob Hurlburt is an entrepreneur and pioneer in the field of New Media Technology (Computer-VR & Creative-PR).  Prior to JML, Hurlburt ran the Creative Agency SOVRENTI Inc. (2003-2010), the Joint Venture New Media Lab for Hearst Publications/Belo Broadcasting (1998-2002); and Digital Arts Inc. from 1993-1997. Hurlburt, a graduate of Baylor University, maintains professional interests in both politics and ministry in addition to business.  His first private sector venture was Digital Courtroom (1993) the precursor to Virtual Courtroom and JML.

Realizing no other company had exploited Physics Based Interactive 3D, he and Watkins began developing the software and technology for JML in 2007.  The company launched on 3-25-2011.

Adam Watkins, CTO and Lab Director

Adam Watkins is a fifteen year veteran of the 3D animation industry.  He started the Computer Graphic Arts department at the University of the Incarnate Word where he still leads the 3D Animation and Game Design program.  Recently, he completed a one year research sabbatical at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he served as Art Director for the VISIBLE team creating cutting-edge training tools for nuclear technicians and inspectors.  A regular instructor at the Digital Media Academy at Stanford University and Harvard University and the author of more than ten books and over 100 articles on 3D animation and game design, Watkins now leads a team of dedicated and talented animators, programmers and designers as CTO of Justice Media Lab.

John P. Devine – JML General Counsel

John Devine worked for Shell Oil Company and Brown & Root before attending South Texas College of Law, graduating with a JD in 1986. In 1995, the voters of Harris County elected John Devine as the civil trial judge of the 190th State District Court of Harris County. During his seven (7) year tenure, Judge Devine tried nearly 350 jury trials and presided over more than 500 bench trials. Judge Devine’s excellent managerial skills assisted him in reducing his Court’s case backlog by 40%. In 2002, Judge Devine left public service and entered private litigation practice concentrating in the area of toxic torts and other personal injury matters with some products liability. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court. He serves in a variety of capacities at JML.

Jason Taylor, Director of Operations

Jason Taylor is an entrepreneur and business consultant having run a number of successful companies in California and Texas.  He directs the logistical, business and investor aspects of the company.
